What This Site Is

Canada’s gambling landscape is genuinely fragmented: what’s licensed in Ontario isn’t licensed in Manitoba, what Alberta opened in 2026 didn’t exist a year earlier, and a government platform runs the only legal option in most of the country. We built this site as a reference for that fragmented reality — a chapter-by-chapter guide to casino games, sports betting and lottery products, plus a province-by-province index of what’s actually legal where, kept current as the rules change.

The site is organized into three guides — Casino, Betting and Lottery — each working through the mechanics of its games and products from first principles, alongside a standalone Province Index that tracks licensing status across every province and territory in one place. We treat all thirteen jurisdictions as worth covering accurately, not just the two or three with open private markets, since most Canadians live somewhere a government platform is still the only licensed option.

Nothing here requires an account, a newsletter signup or any personal information to read. It’s a reference, not a funnel.

Our Editorial Line

We hold to a few rules that shape every page on this site:

Licensed options only. Our rankings and recommendations cover operators registered in the province we’re discussing them for — full methodology on How We Verify.
“Unregulated,” not “illegal.” Where a province has no open private licensing regime, we describe an offshore or out-of-market operator’s status there as unregulated for that operator, rather than framing the individual player as breaking a clearly outlawed law. The distinction matters and we keep it consistent.
No offshore rankings. We don’t rank, score or promote any operator that lacks a licence for the province we’re covering it in, regardless of how established it might be elsewhere.
No invented statistics. Where we state an odds figure, a licensing date or a payout timing, it’s drawn from a published rule, a regulator’s own material, or our own recorded testing — not estimated for effect.

How This Site Is Funded

Some of the outbound links on this site — including links to licensed operators — may be affiliate links, meaning we can earn a referral fee if a link leads to a signup. We disclose that plainly here rather than hiding it in fine print.

What that funding never does is decide a ranking. Every score and every position in a Top 5 list is set by the same published, weighted methodology described on How We Verify — licence status first, then real-money testing across payouts, games, payment methods and support. An operator’s affiliate relationship with us, or lack of one, plays no part in that scoring. If an operator we don’t have a commercial relationship with tests better, it ranks higher; the methodology doesn’t know the difference.
